Bring smile to a girl child

October 8th, 2021 found the batch of 1984/86 gather together at school to commence a project for the girl child.  An initiative that gives back to the school and the city of Kolkata for who our Founders Rev Dr. D Mark Buntain and Rev Dr. I Huldah Buntain worked tirelessly till they breathed their last.

Representatives of the batch in the august presence of dignitaries from the AG Mission and school handed over tokens to represent the financial aid.  Five girls, Marium, Khushi, Ishita, Ishika, and Nicole were selected for the year 2021/22.

“Bring smile to a girl child” is a simple crowd-funded support scheme for joining hands with the school, its authorities, and parents to participate meaningfully in a girl child’s education. The AGCS Buddies of 84/86 are students, a good lot of who have completed about 25 – 30 years in their working lives. Having walked, talked, played, and participated in various activities together with the same sense of exuberance are thankful today to God above, the school, its Alumni, and authorities for guiding and leading this effort.  Ms. Bonita Ghosh on behalf of the batch remembered hearing at the chapel from the Bible and quoted 2 Corinthians 9: 6-8 “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

The event was a big opportunity for the batch of 84/86 which can turn into a beautiful blessing for all of us too. We urge more batches to come forward and create a ripple effect. Like a small pebble dropped into the sea creates waves but a big boulder sinks beneath. So also is the effort of a single batch. One pebble many ripples.

An essentially school WhatsApp group has made an effort which they “hope and pray will spread contagiously.”

Let us all come together and bring more smiles to children across the city.
